Welcome to Anne-Marie Carratu, owner of Reiki Light, now offering Reiki training courses at Quest.
Courses are available using the original Usui Shiki Ryoho teachings and Karuna Reiki teachings.
 
 
 
 
What is Reiki?
 
Reiki is a complementary therapy, founded by Mikao Usui in Japan, in the early part of the 20th century. Reiki, pronounced ‘ray-key’, is a gentle and effective system of healing which activates the body’s own natural ability to heal itself. Reiki can benefit everyone, from young babies to adults and is a safe, non-invasive treatment. The name Reiki originates from the Japanese words ‘rei’ meaning ‘universal’ and ‘ki’ meaning ‘energy’. This universal energy is channeled through the practitioner to the recipient and works on all levels of the mind, body, emotion and spirit, allowing for total harmony and balance to be restored.
Reiki is now widely practiced and taught within the UK and is being recognised as an extremely effective healing system. It is currently under voluntary regulation too, which makes it a professional modality to learn.
 
 
 
Reiki Training Courses
 
Anyone can learn this wonderful healing therapy as Reiki includes everyone, from all backgrounds and all religions. Usui Sensei’s teachings are very much about teaching people how to heal themselves, spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically. His motto “Unity of self through harmony and balance” was written on a plaque on the wall of his training centre in Tokyo.
There are three main levels to Usui’s teachings and each level teaches you how to integrate Reiki into your life.
 
 
Reiki One – First Degree (Shoden)
 
Reiki One is a two day course based very much on self-healing. You will receive four Reiki attunements, over the two days. The attunement process allows you to be opened and aligned to the Reiki energy, enabling you to begin to be able to channel it through your hands.

Reiki Two – Second Degree (Okuden)
 
Reiki Two is also a two day course, based on the student becoming a professional practitioner, healing others and well as continuing to self heal. Two further attunements are received on this course. Case studies for the student’s benefit will be required as part of this course. Only those students who have taken a Reiki one course can learn this next level and there must be a minimum of three months between courses.

**** Reiki Practitioner Course ****


Students who wish to work within the NHS or who would like to receive the CNHC (Complementary and Natural and Health Council) quality mark may now take a more professional Reiki Practitioner Course with me, approved by the UK Reiki Federation.  This course is taught to National Occupational Standards for Reiki, finalised in 2009.
 
Reiki has now undergone a voluntary self-regulation process and been recognised by the CNHC, who is the UK regulator for complementary practitioners set up with government funding.  They offer reassurance to the general public that their practitioners have met national standards of competence and practice.

In addition to taking the Reiki One and Reiki Two courses, students will be required to carry out further study and learning over a 9 month period.  Providing all the work is completed by this time, students will receive a certificate which will entitle them to join the CNHC immediately, via a professional association e.g. the UK Reiki Federation.

Reiki Three – Third Degree (Shinpiden)
 
Reiki Master is an ongoing learning experience and a journey that requires a lot of internal work and focus. There is also extensive practice needed in using the Reiki energy. Acceptance onto this level of Reiki is by interview only, as the prospective student has to be ready to receive these teachings. Only those students who have taken Reiki One and Reiki Two courses can apply and there must be a minimum of a year between courses.

Karuna Reiki Master Courses
 
Karuna Reiki was developed by William Rand, who founded The International Centre for Reiki Training in the USA. It evolved from Usui and Tibetan Reiki and is only open to existing Reiki Masters to learn. It is felt that only those using Master energies can facilitate this powerful Reiki energy.
Karuna Reiki offers many more symbols for the Reiki Master to use and enhances healing as a result. It can be used alongside Usui Reiki, as they complement each other. The course takes three days and covers the first and second levels of Karuna too. There must be a minimum of year between courses.

About Anne-Marie
Anne-Marie is a Reiki Master Teacher who feels absolutely passionate about Reiki, both as a practitioner and as a teacher.  Anne-Marie's Reiki training has been very extensive and she feels honoured to be part of the worldwide Reiki community, she is also an Advanced Theta Healing Practitioner, has Diplomas in Anatomy & Physiology, Holistic Massage and a City & Guilds Teaching Qualification.
Anne-Marie's personal growth and development has accelerated beyond her wildest dreams since her first Reiki treatment and even more so since her own Reiki Master attunements.  As a result, Anne-Marie feels constantly inspired to demonstrate to other people just how wonderful learning and experiencing Reiki is.
As a professional therapist, Anne-Marie is a member of and works for the UK Reiki Federation and has chosen to adopt their Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice. Anne-Marie is also a member of the Complementary and Natural Health Council (the UK regulatory body), the Complementary Therapists Association, the Federation of Holistic Therapists and the General Regulatory Council for Complementary Therapists.
